The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to impose new taxes on Nigerians.

In a statement by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party noted: “Nigerians are already overburdened, impoverished and pauperised by the incompetent, insensitive, uncaring, vindictive and corrupt administration.

“It is disheartening that instead of President Buhari to seek ways to recover the over N14tn looted under his cover by All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and the cabal in his Presidency, the President is seeking to inflict more pain on distraught Nigerians, by imposing new taxes on them in the coming year,”
  the party said.
Also, the party asked the President to apologise to Nigerians for “his deliberate reliance on falsehood in his budget presentation at the National Assembly, last Wednesday.

The party said: “Nigerians and international community were shocked as
fact-checks revealed that a large part of the claims made by the President, particularly on projects he claimed to have completed, were outright falsehood, apparently designed by Buhari to mislead the nation and the world.”
